As part of the Sustainable Marine Research Collaboration Agreement (SMRCA) between the State Government, the University of Tasmania and IMAS, our team provides ongoing science and research support within the salmon aquaculture space across the following three themes:
- Monitoring and Management: environmental monitoring and management are critical elements of balancing the growth of the salmon aquaculture industry with society and the environment. This project is focused on providing research support to ensure the continued improvement and relevance of monitoring and management practices in Tasmania.
- Planning: well-considered and timely planning is an important component of managing the interactions between salmon aquaculture and coastal ecosystems. This project is focused on providing research support for the planning processes that relate to salmon aquaculture in Tasmania.
- Emerging Environmental Issues: the interactions between salmon aquaculture and the environment are complex and evolve over time. This project aims to develop our understanding of a variety of emerging issues associated with salmon aquaculture.
